8/4/08: Summer season begins this Sunday, August 10th. Game Time announced on Friday. PAYMENT IS $85 AND IS DUE THIS SUNDAY.

7/28/08: Barry McGough (ejected in the 7th inning on 7/27) to face possible suspension and/or $10,000 fine from Liberty Park. Further details in forthcoming press conference.

8/3/08 Game recap: Sac Lunch could not have picked a more perfect way to end their stunningly successful 2008 season. The final game of the season saw the notorious team simultaneously enraging and frustrating their opponent. Constant shit-talk gave way to a neverending barrage of hits, raining down upon Los Banditos like softballs dropped from the sky by a merciless God. In the end, Manager/Pitcher/Headcase Corey Fields hoisted the triumphant Golden Eagle championship trophy above his head as Kimble Tile could only look on in envy.

Some highlights from the season:

  • Standout infielder Tom McGough selflessly agreeing to play 2B after returning from knee surgery, forming the greatest SS-2B combo in all of Men's E with the power-hitting Boof.
  • Aaron Melton's record breaking year at the plate. Nearly every record was smashed, including Corey Fields' single season batting average record of .703 (Nut Brunch). Aaron started strong and never let up.
  • Eric "Tico" Torres' return from an injury-plagued year in 2007, standing out again at 3B and performing flawlessly as a backup Pitcher.
  • The resurgence of Joe Q at the plate, giving the end of the lineup a new look.
  • Barry McGough's ejection vs. Amp'd Up, possibly the most infamous incident in Sac Lunch history.
  • Corey Fields' successful battle against his demons, allowing him to focus on his new Zen-style philosophy of pitching.
  • Ending the season with 6 regulars with at least a .600 batting average
  • Although Manager Corey Fields was disappointed at his team giving up 108 runs, they did manage to score a team record 191.

2008 was truly a year of destiny. Sac Lunch solidified their reputation as the most feared and hated team in Men's E - a true black eye on the face of Liberty. Yes, this team is truly a force of good and evil, chaos and order... and now they take their own unique brand of softball to the next level. Following a press conference meltdown, Manager Corey Fields offered the following chilling statement: "Men's D will never know what hit them. Those fuckers are going down. All of them."

    Final Record: 12-2 (.857)     1st Place Finish
Runs Scored: 191, Runs Against: 108

    Sac Lunch 11, Amp'd Up 9

Recap: In one of the most astounding incidents in Sac Lunch history, quiet RF Barry McGough was ejected in the 7th inning of a crucial game against the troublesome Amp'd Up. After calmly arguing a strike call with the umpire, McGough hurled his weapon into the fence with such tremendous force that it was nearly dislodged, causing the several fans in attendance to gasp in horror. Sac Lunch closed out the game with only 3 outfielders, capping a night in which they were forced to rely on their defense in yet another shaky offensive performance.

Sac Lunch 24, More Beverage 12

Recap: After finding his team down 5-0 at the end of the first inning, Manager Corey Fields found himself in a cold sweat in the dugout... bulging veins... heart racing... unable to comprehend what he was witnessing. Was it simply that Sac Lunch was unable to overcome last week's hard-fought but ultimately heartbreaking loss to rivals Kimble Tile? Not so much. In the end, More Beverage was on the bad end of a record-setting offensive explosion, in which the team registered an astounding 33 hits in six innings.

Sac Lunch 10, Kimble Tile 11

Recap: Manager Corey Fields was rumored to have suffered through a sleepless night after his team fell short in one of the most important games of the 2008 season. Sunday was eerily similar to a ghost in the Sac Lunch closet. Playing on the same field and inhabiting the same dugout as their late-2007 upset to Flexible, Sac Lunch shocked fans and players alike with a late-inning meltown to Kimble Tile. Plagued by mental mistakes and weak hitting, the Sacs nonetheless continued to out-battle the young shit-talkers until the 6th inning, when a 4-run lead evaporated into thin air - pushing the preseason favorites 1/2 game out of first place and forcing them into the position of winning all 4 games down the stretch. Afterward, Kimble Tile and their fans commenced a racuous celebration, simlar to the party that erupted after the infamous loss to Flexible.

Recap: Failing to overcome their pitching woes, Dirt Dogs once again failed miserably to keep Sac Lunch from swarming the bases. The opposing pitchers walked 14 batters, a new Liberty Park record that is certain to hold a place in the Hall Of Shame. As the "feel good" story of the year, Joe Q continued his resurgence at the plate, notching an impressive 3-for-4 outing at the plate. And all eyes remain on Boof and Aaron in their historic race for the batting title.

    Sac Lunch 16, Biondo's Market 2

Recap: Playing for the first time in 3 weeks, Sac Lunch regained their first place form by knocking out former rivals Biondo's Market 16-2. Since the opposing lineup consisted almost entirely of right-handed batters who have shown difficulty against RHP's, Manager Corey Fields made the pregame decision to start the righty Eric "Tico" Torres on the mound. His performance was flawless, and Joe Q called a masterful game behind the plate.

    Sac Lunch 5, Amp'd Up 7
    MVP: Tom, Aaron

Recap: "Fuck This Bullshit" were the only words uttered by play-by-play announcer Frank Marinara after this stinking shitpile of a game. Marinara reportedly did not even finish watching the game, electing instead to watch a Little League game on Public Access TV that featured more offensive firepower than the bullshit playing itself out in Diamond 7. Indeed, Sac Lunch shit the bed with a putrid performance at the plate. One fly ball after another was the theme of the day, as runners were left in scoring position in all but 2 innings. Fuck that shit. Everything failed on this first Sunday in June - even manager Corey Fields attempt to get himself ejected in the 7th came up short. The demons of 2007 awoke in a big way, however most analysts agree that the Sacs will rebound in a big way next week. If they don't, they could be kissing their championship dreams goodbye.

Sac Lunch 13, More Beverage 4

Recap: Sac Lunch, again playing somewhat lukewarm against a depleted team, cruised to another victory to remain undefeated. The team has yet to be defeated by either an opposing team or their own formidable demons. Pitcher Corey Fields did his best to avoid arguing with the umpire, as it was revealed before the game that the Man In Red would be taking a hard stance against any antics on the mound. In a disgusting turn of events, the opposing 3rd baseman had his fingernail almost entirely ripped off by a grounder, spewing blood and pus all over the field. He left the game immediately, but Sac Lunch still was unable to go in for the kill against 8 defenders and settled for a 13-4 win.

Recap: Facing a Sunday without their leadoff man Chris Shrader, Sac Lunch opened the day with a wild fucking game. Plenty of shit talking was heard throughout all 7 innings, Manager Corey Fields and Joe Q butted heads throughout the day in the dugout and on the field. Boof was robbed of a homerun on a controversial call late in the game, however the Sacs stuck it out until the end, barely holding on for a 2-run victory.

Sac Lunch 16, Dirt Dogs 11

Recap: Most softball analysts said the first 3 games of the season were the toughest for E-League favorites Sac Lunch. It is now May 5th and the Sacs are 3-0. Facing their toughest competition to date, Sac Lunch once again suffered through a slow start, as the bats stayed silent until erupting in the 4th inning. Quiet RCF Aaron Melton continued his torrid pace, notching yet another perfect hitting game. And the difference in this game was the opposing pitcher's walking 7 batters during the crucial late innings.

    Sac Lunch 15, Biondo's Market 4

Recap: "The Greatest Show On Dirt" managed to provide a season's worth of excitement, despite the fact that troubled Right Fielder Joe Q arrived to the game drunk, late, and disorderly, causing Manager Corey Fields to erupt in the dugout, threatening to remove him from the lineup and possibly undertake legal action. Despite this, another shaky start gave way to a thorough ass whipping of longtime E-League rivals Biondo's Market on Sunday night in front of another sellout crowd on Diamond 9.

    Game 1 - 4/20/08 - Result: W
    Sac Lunch 23, Stryker's Farm Club 18

Recap: Can Sac Lunch live up to all the preseason hype? Will Tom, Eric, and Brad recover from offseason surgeries? Can Joe Q put his offseason troubles with the law behind him? These questions and more were answered in a big way Sunday night in front of a sellout crowd on Diamond 9. Falling behind early, Sac Lunch continued to hit with aggression, building steam as the innings progressed, en route to a crushing win over Stryker's Farm Club. The Sacs' defense looked a bit shaky in the first several innings as they tried to shake off the effects of the long winter months. But they recovered in time to avoid a late inning meltdown. Final score: Sac Lunch 23, Stryker's Farm Club 18. Bring on Biondo's Market.
